The Journey Continues..
It's early Sunday morning and one of us is still sound asleep in bed. We are flying out of Heathrow at lunchtime for our much anticipated New York side trip. Sorted out a connection for my iPad but the sim card I bought to use in my work mobile isn't working - I suspect the phone is locked although I was told it wasn't. Anyway shall look at buying a cheap mobile now (shame my younger son dropped my previously bought UK mobile down the toilet a while back).
To bring readers up to date, we finished up in Hong Kong by taking a Big Bus Tour that included a trip to Victoria Peak. Fortunately the weather was kinder to us on Day 2 as we also took in a moving look at the sights of the southern part of Hong Kong Island itself. The flight to London was quite tiring but we were lucky that the Sheraton at LHR made our room available when we arrived (around 7:30am). Hot showers and lie down for a sleep until lunchtime. We spent the afternoon at Hampton Court Palace, a place Alyson was keen to see. Nice and relaxing outing topped off by a leisurely boat ride up the Thames to Kingston before the bus ride back to the hotel. Yesterday it was my turn to nap during the day and Alyson stepped out on her own for a long lunchtime walk. We then took the bus and tube into the West End for our long-awaited Warhorse play. Everyone in the audience thought it brilliant and so cleverly conceived. I believe it is coming to Melbourne late this year and I'd recommend it to all. Finished up our very late evening by having a quiet toast to a recently departed friend of ours back in Melbourne. Our trip prevented us attending her wake on Sunday afternoon but we were there in spirit - rest in peace Marjie.
