Summer almost consigned to the memory but looking forward to a mainly cooler and wetter next six months. Not to mention the Footy is BACK!! Despite this, I am about to settle into my recliner and watch the NZ vs England cricket match on Foxtel in about 15 minutes (needless to say, this will not be a long post). Should have no interruptions either - Alex is who knows where, Stephanie has just left to catch the bus to her friend's place for the night and I dropped Alyson off at the airport 90 minutes ago. Off to the UK yet again!
This trip is only for two weeks with Marian to help Averil and the brothers sort out their mum's place/stuff. After her most recent fall and stay in hospital it became clear that a return to the old house was not a viable option, so a new place to hang the hat and some constant care has been arranged. Wish she could stay in the new place as long as she did in the old one! Anyway, I'm sure the trip back will result in lots of reminiscing, arguing, tears and laughter - but mainly lots of talking!
These two pics that I'm posting were taken as Alyson left home and hour and a half ago - the one above is of her racing out to the car (even though we had hours to spare!) and the one below has her waving goodbye (notice the dish of microwaved potatoes she prepared for the massive journey to the airport!). As if fifty-three meals in a 24 hour flight wasn't going to be enough... All for now. Missing Al already - now where's that remote for the cricket?
